The C3 Refurbishing process
Transfer of
Ownership:
Cincinnati Computer Cooperative assumes all responsibility for your equipment
(BUT NOT DATA LEFT ON YOUR HARD DRIVE) We can provide you with the necessary documentation for your records.
YOU
MUST FILL IN THE TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP FORM ABOVE WITH A COMPLETE LIST OF
DONATED EQUIPMENT.
Component Breakdown: All CPU’s that are not economically
repairable are stripped for parts content. The parts are then used to repair
other non-working units. Any component that cannot be salvaged is sent to a
ISO 9001 compliant recycling center
.
NO equipment is sent over seas
Data Erasure: C3 recommends that
your company erase
the hard drive data in compliance with regulations such as HIPPA, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley
Act, NAVSO P-5239-26, and NISPOM (DOD) 5220-22-M.
C3 does not contract data destruction. Please take time to
look over "Ten tips for donating a computer" (above) for
helpful information about erasure.
Hard
Drive Process:
After receiving your equipment, C3
will remove the hard drive; all working hard drives 40 Gb or larger will be
wiped, with a Department of
Defense compliant erasing program before reusing them. All smaller or
non-functioning hard drives will be removed, and physically destroyed with
our EDR. SOLUTIONS Hard Drive
Crusher. . Hard Drives are NOT sold on the used equipment market and only
leave the building after going through one of the above processes. We would be happy to crush your hard drive while you watch,
please call for an appointment.
Refurbishing/Asset
Tag Removal:
Our experienced staff cleans all CPU’s inside and out. Before the computer
leaves the Ghosting stations all asset tags are removed.
Imaging
the OS: Each C3 computer is imaged with a
Windows XP operating system.
